Recommending a business name by giving free merchandise to consumers such as promotional pens is an excellent way for a fledgling company to expand a customer base and get their name into everyday consumer conversation. However, searching on the internet for promotional items to purchase will expose a company to literally hundreds of sites selling items of all kinds–pens, pencils, hats, key rings and so on. We’ve all gotten freebies from a variety of companies that we sometimes used and sometimes forgot about. But writing utensils such as pens are items that the average consumer will be able to frequently use and not shove into their junk drawer at home.
Wrap and Roll Pens
At PensRUs. com, a company can purchase something called “wrap and roll pens” for use as a promotional item. These pens come in medium point, black or blue ink, and can be customized according to what the company desires. PensRUS has over 50 full-color wrap backgrounds that can be printed with a specific logo or text, which are then wrapped around the pen itself. This site sells personalized pens by unit prices, with bulk purchase of 100-249 pens costing a company 65 cents a pen. However, the bigger the amount of a bulk purchase, the less each pen will cost. For example, if a company purchases 1000 pens, each pen is then only 55 cents apiece.
Gel Pens
Another site called The Pen Guy.com advertises promotional gel pens for a company’s advertising campaign. These type of pens are little more expensive than regular ink pens but offer some advantages, such as gel ink, which is smear-proof and water resistance. Writing with a gel pen offers smooth, less bumpy writing than you sometimes get with normal ink pens. In addition, gel pens from this site features a rubber grip that matches the ink color, along with a selection of metallic colors that sparkle when written on darker paper. The Pen Guy has five colors you can choose from–red, purple, blue, black and green–and also advertises free setup and screen charges.
Initiating a promotional campaign by giving away pens embossed with your company’s name and/or logo would be an excellent way to spread the reputation and generosity of the company.
